The same clinical care, delivered via video

Telehealth exercise physiology is a live, one-on-one video consultation with one of our Accredited Exercise Physiologists. It's not a phone call, a pre-recorded program, or a generic app. You receive a real-time assessment, personalised exercise prescription, and ongoing support — exactly as you would in our Mordialloc clinic, just from the comfort of your own home.

Patients who prefer to exercise at home

For those who work out at home and want programming and supervision without the commute.

Post-surgery or mobility-limited patients

Recovering from surgery or managing a condition that makes travel difficult? Telehealth removes that barrier.

Patients outside the Mordialloc area

Anywhere in Victoria or Australia — if you want Beachside EP's care, telehealth makes it possible.

Busy schedules and shift workers

Telehealth fits into your day more easily — no travel time, no parking, less time out of your schedule.

Review appointments for existing patients

Many existing patients use telehealth for their 3 or 6-month program reviews — efficient and just as effective.

Anyone who finds in-person care intimidating

Starting from your own space can feel easier. Telehealth is a great first step for those new to exercise physiology.

Simple to set up. Easy to use.

All you need is a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and internet connection. We use a secure, private video platform — no downloads required.

1

Book your telehealth appointment online

Select "Telehealth" when booking through our online booking system. New patients: book an Initial Telehealth Consultation. Existing patients: book a Return Telehealth Appointment. Let us know if you have an active Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan from your GP — the $61.80 Medicare rebate applies directly to your telehealth session.

2

Receive your link and pre-appointment information

We'll send you a secure video link before your appointment, along with a short intake form if you're a new patient. No software to install — it runs in your browser.

3

Join your session — from your lounge room, bedroom, or backyard

Your Exercise Physiologist will assess your movement, discuss your goals and health history, and design your program in real time. For returning patients, we review your progress and update your program. Wear comfortable clothing and have some clear floor space available if you can.

4

Receive your program via our app

Just like in-clinic, your program is delivered through our exercise app — with videos, sets, reps, and notes from your clinician. You can refer back to it anytime, anywhere.

5

Your Medicare rebate is processed immediately

If you have an active Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan from your GP, the $61.80 Medicare rebate is applied directly at the time of your appointment via HICAPS. No forms, no waiting.

All three of our clinical services, online

Telehealth isn't limited to Exercise Physiology. Our Dietitian and Diabetes Educators are also available via video — making it possible to access your full multidisciplinary care team without stepping out the door.

Exercise Physiology

Initial assessments, program design, progress reviews, and chronic disease management — all via video with our AEPs.

Dietetics

Nutritional assessment, dietary planning, and ongoing support with our Accredited Practising Dietitian, Samadi.

Diabetes Education

Glucose management, lifestyle education, and medication review support with our Credentialled Diabetes Educators.

Note: Group classes and InBody scan assessments are available in-clinic only.

Your rebates work the same online

Telehealth exercise physiology is recognised by Medicare and most private health funds — meaning the cost to you is the same whether you attend in-person or online.

Medicare (Chronic Disease Management Plan)

A Medicare rebate of $61.80 per session is available when you hold an active Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan issued by your GP. This applies to telehealth Exercise Physiology sessions in exactly the same way as in-clinic visits.

Under a CDM plan, you are entitled to up to 5 subsidised allied health sessions per calendar year. A small gap fee applies. Your rebate is processed on the spot via HICAPS — no forms, no waiting.

Not sure if you have a CDM plan? Ask your GP. Any condition that has been, or is likely to be, present for 6 months or more may qualify — including diabetes, heart disease, osteoporosis, arthritis, back pain, COPD, and more.

Medicare CDM DVA (Gold & White Card) Private Health Insurance NDIS (Self & Plan Managed) WorkCover / TAC Private (No Referral Needed)

DVA, WorkCover, TAC and NDIS telehealth conditions may vary. Contact us to confirm your specific funding arrangement before booking.

Telehealth FAQs

Do I need any special equipment or software?

No. All you need is a device with a camera (smartphone, tablet, or laptop) and a stable internet connection. The video platform runs in your browser — nothing to download or install. We'll send you a link before your appointment.

Is telehealth as effective as coming in person?

For the vast majority of what we do — assessment, program design, education, and reviews — telehealth is highly effective. Research supports telehealth for chronic disease management, diabetes education, and rehabilitation programming. Some things, like an InBody scan or hands-on testing, do require an in-person visit, and we'll always recommend that if it's clinically appropriate for you.

Can I claim Medicare for a telehealth EP session?

Yes — a Medicare rebate of $61.80 per session is available when you hold an active Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan from your GP that includes Exercise Physiology. This applies to telehealth sessions in exactly the same way as in-clinic visits. We process the rebate on the spot via HICAPS — no paperwork from you.

I'm not great with technology. Will I be able to manage this?

We set it up to be as simple as possible — just click a link we email you. If you have any trouble, call us on 0409 051 260 before your appointment and we'll walk you through it. We help patients of all tech comfort levels, including older adults, regularly.

What space do I need at home?

It depends on your program, but generally just a clear area of floor space (roughly 2m x 2m) is enough to start. We'll let you know in advance if your session will require specific equipment. For most initial consultations, you mainly need to sit comfortably in front of your camera.

Can new patients book telehealth, or is it only for existing patients?

Both. New patients are very welcome to book an Initial Telehealth Consultation. If you're new to Beachside EP, we'll conduct a full clinical assessment via video — the same thorough intake process as in-clinic.

What if my internet drops out during the session?

If your connection drops, your clinician will attempt to call you on the phone number you provided when booking. We'll complete the remainder of the session by phone if needed, or reschedule at no charge if the connection can't be restored.
