What is it?

Dietetics is clinical nutrition, not calorie counting or fad diets

An Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) is a university-qualified allied health professional regulated by Dietitians Australia. They are the only nutrition professionals in Australia with the clinical training to diagnose and treat diet-related health conditions.

Where a nutritionist offers general food guidance, a dietitian can work with complex medical conditions, reading your pathology, coordinating with your doctor and prescribing a nutrition plan built around your specific physiology, medications and goals.

At Beachside EP, our dietitians work within the same team as your exercise physiologist and diabetes educator, so your nutrition, movement and medication management are all aligned.

Nutrition and exercise, working together

Most people get nutrition advice from one provider and exercise advice from another, and the two never speak. At Beachside EP, your dietitian and exercise physiologist are in the same building, reviewing your progress together. What you eat directly affects how you recover, how your blood sugar responds to exercise and how quickly you see results, so we build programs that account for all of it.

How dietetics integrates with your care

  • Nutrition timing around your exercise program to improve performance and recovery
  • Blood glucose management strategies coordinated with your EP sessions
  • Meal planning that accounts for your medications and pathology results
  • Regular case review between your dietitian and EP clinician
  • Shared communication back to your GP

What to expect

How a dietetics appointment works

From your first assessment to ongoing support, here is how your nutrition plan takes shape.

1

Nutrition assessment

We review your diet history, medical background, pathology and lifestyle to understand where you are now.

2

Goal setting

We establish clear, realistic nutrition goals that connect to your medical priorities and fit your daily life.

3

Personalised plan

A practical eating plan, not a generic template. Adapted to your budget, preferences, culture and schedule.

4

Ongoing support

Regular follow-ups to review progress, adjust the plan and keep your nutrition aligned with your exercise and health goals.

A note on approach

We do not believe in crash diets or generic meal plans

Sustainable change comes from understanding what works for your body, your condition and your life, not from following someone else's rules. Our dietitians take the time to understand what you actually eat, what barriers get in the way and what realistic progress looks like for you.

If you have been through programs that did not stick, or been given advice that did not account for your medical situation, you are in the right place.
